General Amazon Alexa Skill Policies
The Amazon Alexa services and the skill platform are provided by Amazon.com Services LLC (with its affiliates and “Amazon”). “Voice Learning for Universities” is a custom Alexa Skill provided by us, which makes use of and operates on these services offered by Amazon.
By using Amazon Alexa services in general, please be mindful of Amazon’s terms of use (https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201809740) and privacy notices (https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GVP69FUJ48X9DK8V) that apply to all software running on or being accessed through Alexa-powered devices. You can manage several privacy settings that also affect this specific skill through Amazon’s privacy settings: https://www.amazon.com/Alexa-Privacy-Hub/b?ie=UTF8&node=19149164011
The Alexa skill was tested by Amazon against the general Alexa Skill policy guidelines, which are available at https://developer.amazon.com/en-US/docs/alexa/custom-skills/certification-requirements-for-custom-skills.html.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
When using the Alexa skill, it will ask you for your name and university affiliation. In addition, Amazon Alexa services provides an anonymous user ID that is necessary to distinguish individual users so that each user’s progress is only accessible to that specific user. The skill does not currently collect your real name, your affiliation with any other services or logins. You do not currently need to register or sign up to any service to access the skill’s contents.
Your training data and progress is stored in order to provide the necessary skill functionality. Data about your usage and progress in the training is stored in cloud services offered by AWS (specifically AWS CloudWatch and AWS DynamoDB), with the data centers primarily hosted and operated within the EU. These logs are not exposed, sold or used besides tracking of issues and monitoring skill usage.
You can at any time request to delete your personal information through a command (e.g., “Delete my data”) within the skill. Note that some of the anonymous progress information has to be retained in order to provide aggregated overall statistics, e.g., how many times each training has been completed over all skill users. You can also contact andreas.jakl@fhstp.ac.at to have your personal data deleted at any time.
Children
The Alexa skill is not designed in any way to attract anyone under age 18. The skill does not knowingly contact children under age 18 without a parent’s permission. The skill does not knowingly ask a child under age 18 for any personal information.
